Hello everyone, and
hope you made it home safe from Bluetick Days. I’d like to thank Dan
Sheridan and the Wabash Valley Coon Hunters for doing a great job
hosting National Bluetick Days. Dan and fellow members worked hard
during the weekend and just wanted to pass along my thanks. I’d like
to thank Todd Morgan and Tanya Raab of UKC for their help and
support at Bluetick Days. Tanya did our pictures and along with Todd
took care of our members with all their questions and needs.
Well we have some
new officers and 3 who will be placed on a ballot for you the
membership to decide who will lead this organization for the next 2
years. Ron Taylor was the only nomination for Vice President and Ed
Mead who was the only nomination for Sec/Treas. So they win these
positions by acclimation. We had 3 nominations for President. Mike
Hayworth of MO, C.W. Eldridge Jr. of GA and Jerry Gullet of OH were
nominated. So you the membership will be voting on one of these 3
men to hold the top position of BBOA for 2009-2011.
The membership
voted once again to accept Traders bid to do our 2008 Bluebook, and
also for Sigler Printing to print our book. I felt both bids were
very well received and we are looking at ways to drop even more cost
so the organization can save some money. One big way to help in the
cost of the Bluebook is for our members to help support the Bluebook
with an ad !!! If we could get just a few more ˝ page ads it would
help so much. Start now and plan to support the Bluebook. Just 2
months of putting $25 to the side will pay for your ˝ page ad in the
2008 Bluebook !!! What a way to let folks and fellow members know
who you are and what your hunting !! That is what the book is all
about !! Got a couple of Bluetick men or women in your local coon
club ?? Go together and split a full page ad for your area, club and
show folks what your hunting !! It is a great way to let fellow
members know who you are and meet new friends.
Ballots for
National officers, BBOA Bluetick Hall of Fame and issues for you the
members to decide will be going in the mail middle to late July so
be looking for them. Don’t set them aside, look them over, fill them
out and get them back in the mail as soon as you can. WE get many
calls from folks who have lost their ballots. Some just never bother
to mail them back in. Make your vote count and your voice be heard.
Fill out your ballot, make sure to sign it !!! and drop it in the
mail. If you have not received a ballot by the end of July contact
Marty Waddell so we can make sure you are a current member, and that
your membership has been sent in by the person from which you
purchased it from.
The membership
voted to open single registration for the Bluetick Coonhound. Dale
Parrish will once again be handling this for us. Dale’s number will
be in an ad this month. If you know of anyone wishing to single
register a Bluetick have them contact Dale and read the
requirements. I get calls each year and folks are wanting to single
register puppies ?? Fits thing is they must meet UKC Bluetick Breed
Standards. Then they must be able to run and tree a raccoon on their
own, and they have to be DNA’s through UKC along with our fee and
UKC’s fee. Dale reported we had 5 dogs single registered last year
and over 18 packets mailed out. Single registration will run from
July 1st through December 31st of this year.
Well, it is getting
late, I’ll try and do better next month with more info. Coming back
from Bluetick Days and going right into a National Holiday is hard
and takes me about 2 weeks to get things back on track
J So be safe in your travels, try and support your Zone and
State events sponsored by BBOA and enjoy the summer as best you can.
Gas is through the roof and I know it is hurting all of us. I sure
hope we can find some relief soon or it is only going to get worse.
Remember our service men and women in your prayers, take a friend or
a child hunting. Introduce a new person to our sport and maybe they
will do the same. Was glad to hear Mr Dave Dean was released from
the hospital and is doing much better. We wish him a speedy
recovery. God Bless everyone and remember our saying “Our
Standards…… Set Standards” so Go Team Blue !!
