Hello
fellow BBOA members. Hope this finds you and ole Blue doing well
and enjoying the warm weather and the kitten coons on the ground.
June was a busy month with getting Bluetick Days all finished up and
off to the magazines and the Bluebook, then off to 3rd
Annual BBOA Youth Championship. Walhalla South Carolina was the
location this year as Zone 6 played host. The Oconee Coon Hunters
club along with Brent Lipscomb welcomed me and my family like we was
old friends. It was a nice feeling coming into a BBOA event not
knowing anyone and feeling like family and great friends when we
were done. Brent loaned us the location of his farm for this event,
tables and tents were set up, cooking area set up and the event went
off like a well oiled machine. I wanted to thank all those who came
out and supported this event and we are about 98% sure we have the
2008 location locked up. The Youth coverage is done, and sent off to
the magazines and the Bluebook so that is one less item left on my
list of things to do.
I've
been getting lots of calls this past month from folks wondering
about single registration. The July issue has an ad from BBOA
regarding this, the contact person which is Dale Parrish, and also
everything you need to know on what, and how for you to get your
Blue single registered. The one thing that does set us apart from
some organizations is that we require our single registered dogs to
be DNA'd for the future identity of these dogs' ancestors. Refer to
the July issue for this information.
June
was a busy month for several of our Zones. Zone 3 had a great event
from the info that Chairman Mitch Mueller sent to me. Zone 3 had a
superb turnout for dogs hitting the woods numbering about 120+ for 2
nights of hunting. I'd like to congratulate Todd Ackerman for his
election to the BBOA Board of Directors, I'll be looking forward to
working with him and also I'd like to pass along my thanks to past
Director Jake Appel for doing a great job while he was in office.
Zone 4 had a great turn out for their Ed Mead Tribute event the
following weekend. Dale Parrish called to let me know that Zone 4
had 3 new Directors and a new Chairman at the helm. Congrats to Mike
Parish the new chairman and Steve Burkholder, Shane Groves and Jeff
Teague as Directors for Zone 4. I'd like to pass along my thanks to
Dave Dean former Chairman, Dale Parrish, Ken Herman and Bill Turner
the Directors of Zone 4 for all the hard work they have done these
last few years and the great support and input they gave this
organization. As for Zone 5 election and event I only know that
Pricilla Huff was elected to Vice Chairman and J.J. Callahan was
elected to the Board of Directors. I received this info via a
telephone call after the meeting. I will have more on this situation
later but I'd like to thank former Director David Leatherwood for
all his hard work and support of BBOA during his time as a Director.
David like many of the Officers listed above was always at the
events, and willing to roll up his sleeves and dig in to work. I
wish all our former Officers the best and hope they will continue to
support and help our new officers with their knowledge and
experience.
The
Hall of Fame ballots should be in your hands by now and should be
back in the mail to be sure they get to our post office box in time
to be brought to Autumn Oaks. This is the location that the Officers
and members if they wish come together and count the ballots. If you
have not received a ballot, check your card, see who signed you up,
and then contact us and we can check on it. The most important info
we need is "who sold you your membership" so have that info ready
when you call. The organization allocated money to mail these
ballots out, please take the time to make your selections and drop
them back in the mail. This is your chance to make your vote count.
Don't
be realizing to much as its just around the corner. What is
that..well your ad for the Bluebook. We will be making many calls
this year, as we would like to see 100 plus members new to the
Bluebook take out just a ½ page ad and help support this years book.
For just $50 you can be a part of history, and place your Blue's and
friends, family forever in the Bluebook for future generations to be
able to view. Just think about it, and you will not find a better
place to spend just $50 and get the quality and keepsake as your ad
in the 2007 Bluebook !!!
Well,
its getting late, just put the grandsons down to bed so I'll get
this off and hope to see many of you at Autumn Oaks or maybe the UKC
World Championship !! Remember be safe in your travels and "Our
Standards...Set Standards" so GO Team Blue !! Till next month
