Hello everyone, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !! Hope everyone had a great Christmas and are now enjoying the New Year. Here at the Hauck house or the “Ponderosa “ as we like to call it J things have been busy busy and more busy. Work, the Grand Boys and all the things they are into now, the school projects, and work Ha did I mention that oh how things are growing and hunting yep, been hunting a bunch and have sure enjoyed it. I almost forgot what it was like to hit the woods, just you, the dog and the stars. Yep many a nights of late just enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Tristen and Bo my Grandsons have hit the woods of late with me and it was fun to explain to them what Blue was doing, and the track, and then tree. They had a ball and we celebrated with a small camp fire, cooked some hot dogs and just enjoyed the beauty of the night and each others company.

Well, Renae has been keeping me up to date with the Bluebook and we should be well on our way in the printing department at Sigler as you read this. Renae did a fantastic job this year and with times as hard as they are we had over 100 members who again supported the annual Bluebook of BBOA. Congrats and a big “thank you” to all those who went the extra effort to support this annual book. With any luck it should be in the mail the last weekend of January or if we have any problems maybe the first week of February. I’d like to take say thank you to our editor Renae Ehlenbach who once again has done a great job. As most of you know this will be her last year doing the Bluebook. I know what a job this is and knowing and seeing what she has done over the last 6 years it has been a blessing to have her on the team.

I’ve been talking with incoming President Mike Hayworth off and on over the last couple of months. Mike is working on getting his staff put together and we are going to introduce them at the annual Board of Directors teleconference. Mike has been actively seeking out folks who want to work for BBOA and keep the organization strong. When you get your Bluebook look at Mikes ad, and if you feel you would like to donate some time and hold a position, give Mike a call and ask him what he still has open. There are lots of additional activities that take place within BBOA that one person cannot take care of so feel like helping out, want to work for the organization ?? Give Mike a call, I’m sure he would appreciate it.

Well, the Bluetick Reunion will be upon us soon, and once again the Thursday night event will be a UKC World Qualifying event Blueticks only event. Hunt winners placing in the “Top 10” will receive their Purina Points. Since this is a breed specific event cast winners not placing in the hunt cannot receive Purina points. Last year we were hit with over 6 inches of rain, flash flooding, severe thunder storms and tornado warning just 45 minutes south of our location. All in all it was a good event and with good weather we should have another great event. The Stoney Creek Coon hunters and Piedmont Coon Hunters clubs did a great job for this event, and with JJ Callahan working at the club level for us things should go very smoothly. One thing for sure JJ knows about large events and what “we” the hunters want and need and he will work extra hard to make those things happen and be on board when we all arrive.

National Bluetick Days will again return to Palestine Illinois and be the weekend after Mothers day. Thursday night will again host the Invitational, the Young Gun Shoot-Out, and the All Blue hunt. These being our 50th Anniversary (1959 – 2009) as far as I can find and research we are planning some special events and activities. Dan Sheridan, Jeff Timms are taking lead on this event and working with Charles Locklear and Joel Appel working out the details and the local chambers of commerce in the area. This is where all of your new elected officers will take over for BBOA. All new officers will along with Directors present sign our new code of ethics, and then be sworn in for their new post of BBOA. Mike Hayworth, Ron Taylor, and Ed Mead will be the top 3 executive officers for BBOA and they will need our support to continue making BBOA the great organization that it is.

BBOA National Youth Championship will be held in Zone 1 this year and in the month of June. Location will be Elizabeth, Illinois. The same location as the 2008 UKC World Championship!! Yep, Chairman Mike Hayworth asked if my club would be willing to host this event, and my club said YES!!! So ILL, MO, IA, MN, WI, KS youth hunters and possibly from even farther out J plan on making the trip, great food, great hunting, and lots of activities to keep you busy throughout the day. The NorthWestern Illinois Coon Hunters are working extra hard to make this the greatest event you’ve ever attended!!

Since I missed the last couple of months, I’d like to pass along my congratulations to Ron Taylor for his 4th place finish and High Scoring Bluetick Male at the UKC World Championship, also to Jimmy Don Presley, Jim Ballard and Wesley Martin for their High Scoring Bluetick Female finish at the World Championship, and to Robert & Melanie Hittson for their Best of Breed Bluetick (Male & Female) wins in the Show at the UKC World Championships. As a member of the host club I hope you all had fun and enjoyed our little part of the country. We did our best to make you comfortable and make your stay enjoyable. I hope one day you will come back and visit us again.

Well that should do it for this month. Be safe in your travels, keep plenty of water to ole Blue and when you get those Bluebooks ENJOY !!! J and remember all the hard work your Zone level Officers and National Officers do to make your organization what it is. God Bless and remember our Men and Women in uniform, our true Hero’s !!
